Astech are really pleased that CMIS users, South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council are the winners of the MJ Award for Excellence in Democratic Services.
The Council showed real enthusiasm to pro-actively engage with the local community and raise its own profile as well as that of local democracy in the process.
Through events at the town hall and outreach work within the community the staff delivered innovative, varied and outcome- focussed events with great feedback from those who took part.
The events were ambitious, interactive and fun and the judges especially liked the activities for young people and the involvement of elected members and partners.
It is a perfect example of how democratic services staff can be the 'glue and heart' of a council.
